Aug, 2017: KIC member Uli Wiesner observes quasicrystal structure in nanoparticles  as they form, which had never been seen before. According to Wiesner, understanding the early formation steps will help them to design better materials.
August, 2017: David Muller, KIC co-director and Professor of Applied & Engineering Physics discusses his electron microscope pixel detector (EMPAD), and what it means in terms of gathering data at the atomic level.
July, 2017: Professor of Physics and KIC Member Itai Cohen researches ant-mimicking spiders, a remarkable example of adaptive evolution. His research was published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B
July, 2017: The search for the superconductor of the future takes a significant step forward following a breakthrough by six research teams in the US and Europe led by Professor of Physics and KIC Member Seamus Davis
July, 2017: KIC Member Jeevak Parpia and a team of Cornell researchers build on the Nobel Prize discovery of the superfluid state of liquid helium and find new implications for the study of superconductivity and theoretical models of the origin of the universe.  Their findings were recently published in Nature Communications.
April, 2017: Cornell launches a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellows program and a Society of Cornell Fellows for Cornell Postdoctoral Researchers participating in prestigious and competitively awarded programs, such as the Kavli Postdoctoral Fellow Program.
April 2017:  Joshua Frieman will explore the “Dark Universe” with his 2017 Hans Bethe Lecture at Cornell.  His talk will give an overview of what we have learned about the Dark Universe, and will describe new experiments and observatories that aim to illuminate its enigmas. Frieman is a member of the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics at the University of Chicago.
March 2017: KIC co-Director David Muller and KIC member Sol Gruner collaborate to come up with an exciting improvement to their electron microscope that yields a wealth of information.
February, 2017: Darrell Schlom, KIC Member and the Herbert Fisk Johnson Professor of Industrial Chemistry in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell has been elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
December, 2016: KIC Member and Professor of Physics Seamus Davis is among 25 Irish leaders who are at the top of the science and technology world, as recently named by SiliconRepublic.com.
